Volunteers are needed daily at the Sweetwater Primary School. Any amount of time you can donate to our school would be greatly appreciated.

What?
There are many different areas in which the school could use volunteers.
During lunch, Daily.
From 11 - 1pm volunteers are needed to monitor children as they participate in the new after lunch walking program.
Listening to Children Read or recite ABC's or their Phonetic Sounds, Math Facts or Numbers.
Assisting Students on Computer Programs.
Shelving Library Books
Assisting Teachers in preparing for activities they are planning.
Testing
If you can point to words or read questions to the students, you are just what we need.
Book Fair
Twice a year
AR Fun Day
Picture Day
Supper With Santa
and Much, Much More

When?
At your convenience.
Why?
Tennessee's curriculum, standards, and expectations are more challenging than ever before. In fact, it is almost impossible for teachers to do all that the state has set before them. Therefore, your child will be required to do more at home this year, such as reading. math, projects, etc. Many of you may have already noticed that the things your child learned in kindergarten, you probably learned in first, second, or third grade. Most classes have 20 or more students and one teacher. Having two children is stressful at times, but imagine teaching and being responsible for 20! Having volunteers come in and help with the testing, reading, or other activites is a great relief for the teachers. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
How?
Volunteering is very easy. The best place to start would be with your child's teacher. Ask her if she needs any help. Contact the office, Mr. Nichols 351-7000, darin.nichols@scstn.net.
If there is absolutely no way you could volunteer over the next 175 days, ask your child's teacher if there is anything you may could take home and work on and get it back to her.
You do not have to volunteer a whole day. You can slit up your time into different days. Any amount of time you can come is GREATLY appreciated.
